Presentation of Muse & Marlowe

The Muse and Marlowe project was launched in 2017. The two co-founders Aline Gibson and Lucie Flochlay, previously respectively head of retail communication and commercial communication officer in a cosmetic group, wanted to give more meaning to their professional life.

 

The company was created in April 2019. 


Always looking for sustainable solutions, these two Young women from Brittany do not forget the design. Their collections with vintage inspirations combine feminine and romantic styles, and practical and timeless basics.


Their approach within the company is in line with their lifestyle. Waste reduction, green energy, local consumption, eco-friendly home-care products and heating systems, rainwater collectors, garden compost bins, are just some examples of their personal actions.


The three pillars of the brand: reconcile pleasure
and eco-responsibility, use a maximum of natural raw materials, ensure quality.


In conclusion: a beautiful brand, two beautiful
people, well aligned head-heart-body.

10% of online sales of some capsule collections are donated to the NGO Care France for programs to help women in difficulty.

ORIGIN / TRACABILITY

Muse and Marlowe brand buys its raw materials directly, with the exception of sewing threads, composition labels and interlining. By knowing its suppliers, the brand can control their practices and be transparent on its supply chain. All suppliers of the brand are listed on its website. 

Muse & Marlowe favors a close supply. The prototypes are made in France. The fabrics and trims (buttons, zips), are bought in France and come from France, Germany, Portugal and Turkey. The impressions and dyes specific to the brand are made in France. The production workshop is located in Portugal.


ENVIRONNEMENT

All of the main raw materials come from GOTS certified suppliers.

All the fabrics of the collection's clothing, as well as the buttons, are 100% natural, with the exception of the fabric of the T-shirts which contains 5% elastane to offer a better durability of the jersey.

No animal raw material is used by the brand.

Brand labels are 50% recycled.

Price tags are compostable and contain mini cucumber seeds or butterfly flowers to plant.

The paper in which the items are packed is printed with soy-based ink. This paper is biodegradable.

Envelopes in which items are sent are compostable.

 No blister is used.

Muse and Marlowe, in a concern of environmental responsibility, follows practices of slow fashion. The brand wants to maintain collections with few styles. There are currently 11 references in the current collection. The brand releases 2 collections a year, in March and September, as well as 2 capsule collections of 2-3 references in June and December. The references of past seasons, without seasonality too assertive and timeless, are integrated into the following collections so that there is no unused stock.

In addition to the eco-responsible approach conceived from the design of the references, the brand is also involved in many projects / partnerships for recycling and upcycling in order to value the fabrics and raw materials leftovers  from production.

Business cards are made in small quantities from letfovers of cotton T-shirts.

Part of the brand's hardware is second-hand hardware that has been repackaged.
